In these monthly classes we will be doing the ashtanga practise, as close to Mysore style as possible. The classes will be talk through or mysore style (own practise under the teachers guidance/watch).
These classes will be ashtanga in the purest. Looking at all the Primary series and some secondary depending on the students experience.
Sun Salutations, Standing Postures, Sitting Postures & Finishing Postures will all be covered in these classes.
I have been teaching yoga since 2003 and practising since 1995. I have been studying the Ashtanga yoga practise seriously since 2003 and I have discovered so many things about myself through it. It is truly an amazing practise.
The Ashtanga yoga system is a powerful dynamic set of postures and focused breathing techniques derived from the teachings of K Pattabhi jois. Pattabhi Jois is the founder and director of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India.
Pattabhi is known to say “99% practise 1% theory”, and through my own personal yoga practise this is something I can completely agree with. To truly understand you must practise with openness. When practising the Ashtanga series, you are on the mat for at least 1 and a half hours, each yoga practise brings you something different. You discover more about yourself during the Ashtanga practise, physically, mentally and spiritually than possibly in any other area.
