Inside every
human being there is a network of nerves and sensory organs, the center
of these are called Chakras.
According to East Indian philosophy,
there are seven major Chakras along the Spinal column. Each of the Chakras
are tied into an endocrine gland and or a physical area and when Chakras
and cleansed and balanced they help promote health and well-being on both
a spiritual and physical plane.
Chakra Yoga involves working directly
with the energies through postures, breathing techniques and meditations
– inviting a person to explore themselves further.
The new born baby has its own compete
aura and chakra system, but the development stages through which we pass
in life affect each of the first five major chakras in turn – root,
sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat. These are linked to each of the physical
senses and to the basic elements from which life experiences come –
earth, water, fire, air, ether or akasha. Every chakra produces and is
affected by particular colours. Each one stores a range of life experiences
for us and also links to the physical functioning of our bodies. With
a little patience and practice, working with the chakras can unlock a
wealth of information about us. Unsuspected strengths or gifts will emerge
and information essential to full physical and emotional healing will
be revealed. Although the chakras other than the first five are not connected
with a developmental stage or a sense it must always be remembered that
the chakras are a team. They develop concurrently and each team member
is affected by the strengths and weaknesses of the others.
